Annie is a very sweet girl just hoping she will find her forever home soon. We don't know much about Annie's past other than someone left her to stray and fend for herself. Thankfully it wasn't long before she was taken in by a local shelter who called GRRSWF to take her in and find her a good home. Annie is about 6 years young with a very pretty light colored Golden Retriever coat. Despite her weight, she is quite active and a very happy girl. She wants to please and is happy just being with you. She is very good with other dogs, we know, but we are not sure about cats or children just yet. Annie will certainly make someone or some family a wonderful companion! Annie is currently overweight due to a slightly elevated thyroid that went untreated, but with the help of some medicine and exercise that her foster home is giving her, she will be in tip-top shape before we know it! Her thyroid condition is easily managed with one daily tablet, the cost of this medication is pennies a day. Annie has also test positive for heartworm, though thankfully a mild case, so she will need to be treated before she goes to her new home. Treatment will start in late September and she should be ready to go by the end of October. If you are interested in adopting a dog that has been treated for heartworm disease, but worried about the long term effects on its health, please know that these dogs can live normal healthy lives following treatment. We suggest that you consult your own vet to confirm this. Then don't be afraid to lose your heart to one of these dogs. Annie came to us on 09/01/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.
